• According to science ultrasound means all acoustic energy with a frequency above human hearing. Typical diagnostic sonographic scanners operate in the frequency range of 2 to 18 megahertz, hundreds of times greater than the limit of human hearing. You can also change frequency ,image required , lower frequencies produce less resolution but image deeper into the body.
   
• The instrument consists of various part  such as transducer, doctor moves this device over part of body you have need to do sonography. The transducer sends out sound waves, which bounce off the tissues inside your body. The transducer also captures the waves that bounce back. In such way Images are created from these sound waves.
   
• Obstetric Ultrasound mostly use scans in pregnancy. Now a day Real-time scanners, with which a continuous picture of the moving fetus can be depicted on a monitor screen.
   
• They are emitted from a transducer which is placed in contact with the maternal abdomen, and is moved to any particular content of the uterus.
   
• With the help of sonography movements such as fetal heart beat and malformations in the feus can be assessed and measurements can be made accurately on the images displayed on the screen. With help of this we know gestational age, size and growth in the fetus.
   
• In abdominal scanning a full bladder is often required  in early pregnancy. There may be some discomfort from pressure on the full bladder. The conducting gel is non-staining but may feel slightly cold and wet.
