Constipation In
Babies
|
Constipation is most common problem in
babies. Constipation observed in those
babies who have low-fiber diet, having no
physical activity ,insufficient taking of
fluid substance, insufficient water taking
,or delaying going to bathroom.
After birth infants will pass a thick,
green-black stool
in the first 2 day.
When breast feed start infant stool stool
becomes more
yellow-green. In
starting month infants have stools
daily, but some infants
have them only every two to three days. If
infant totally depend upon breast feed then
they have soft stools but they have depend
upon other milk they face digestion problem
and have hard stool.
Breast feed infant
do frequent stool as
compare to Formula-fed
babies tend to have
drier. Constipation is
rarely observed in
breastfed babies .In
case of breastfeed
infants, after birth it
seems they have a stool
every time they eat. But
after a few weeks the
pattern can change to a
stool every two or three
days or even once a
week.
Some time if your baby
strains to pass a stool,
or feel
uncomforted he may not be
constipated. Babies
pull up legs when they
pass stool, some time become red
in the face. If
stool soft
and passes without pain,
then this feature are
normal. If your infant
appears to be having
difficulty then they
might face problem of
constipation
Many infant who depend upon breast feed have loose stools, but some are
incline to do something to infrequent bowel movements.
In daily life bowel habit is not change but
in case of some stress or traveling can
also reason for constipation or other
changes in bowel habits.
Some times when babies pass stool or gas
,babies make deep rough noise or turn bright red for a
couple of minutes. The main important
is for parents your baby is not in distress or is
constipated.
The
breast feed infant have particular symptoms
relating to the infrequent
bowel movement such as not completing stool
at once in day ,pain on the passage of
stools, some time
blood in the stools.
Best method for avoiding
constipation (for infant )is give fruit
juice such as apple, grape etc 2-3
time in a day .For infant who more
than 4 month give solid food which contain
high fiber . Do not give any medicine or
laxative for constipation problem.

In most of time breastfeed infant pas stool after
every feed. There is no particular number or
schedule for passing stool. His or her stool pattern
depend upon what she eat , movement or
activity.
If you're worried about your baby may be
constipated, there are a few symptoms for
identifying whether your baby face problem of
constipation or not
- First and main symptom is infrequent bowel movements than
her or his normal , especially if baby hasn't had one in three
or more days .If baby has hard, dry stools that
are difficult for passing such stool .In such case
baby may be constipated.
- In some case baby have liquid stools don't assume it's
symptoms diarrhea in
fact, it may be one of symptoms of constipation. past the blockage in the lower
intestine result in liquid stool .
- Babies who have exclusively depend upon
breastfeed are
rarely constipated, because breast milk has the perfect
balance of fat and protein, so it produces stools
that are always soft no matter your baby
hasn't had one for several days.
- If case of other milk , possibility of
constipation is more. In such case concern your
doctor about milk or formula milk.
- When weaning food is introduced
your baby becomes mildly constipated . That's often because rice cereal,
usually the first food given during this transition
period, is low in fiber.
- If your baby getting insufficient
fluid, babies become dehydrated and try
to absorbing more fluid then drinks or eat
. This result is hard, dry bowel movements
that are difficult to pass.
- constipation can be caused by an
underlying medical condition such as hypothyroidism,
some metabolic disorders, some food allergies and
botulism. If your baby passes hard, painful stools,
you'll want her doctor to check her out, just to
make sure.
constipation is caused by a Hirschsprung's
disease, which is typically diagnosed within the
first few weeks of life.
